Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen Monday informed the National Assembly that the Pakistan foreign missions abroad would be divided on 'risk' basis for conducting audit. Responding to a call attention notice of the Parliamentarians, he said that it was not possible for the government to conduct the audit of 180 Pakistani missions abroad every year.

Yearly audit of all Pakistani missions could not be carried out, he added. He said that he would take up the matter with Auditor General of Pakistan to divide the Pakistani mission abroad on the risk basis and the audit of the mission in big countries would be conducted annually while of those in medium countries after every two years and missions in small countries after four years. He said every year audit of 40 to 50 missions is carried out and in this way audit turn of each mission comes after three to four years.

He said yearly audit of all the missions will have huge financial implications in terms of TA/DA. Answering another question, he said, there should be 100 percent compliance of the directives of the Public Accounts Committee and assured the House to inform about the present level of compliance.

He said pre-audit of funds for foreign missions is carried out as AGPR does not approve funds without pre-audit. Tarin appreciated working of Public Accounts Committee, saying that it was working very effectively.
